The Four Seasons is the very first poem I wrote, in 1981 at age 13. It is divided into 4 parts, this is the fourth part called Summer. The poem is very simple and innocent, even as I was at the time. Read also the other parts of the poem – Autumn, Winter and Spring.

Summer

Heat

Irrepressible heat

Is the hallmark

Of summer.

As this warm, lovable season

Rushes in

Fruits overflow the market –

Flowers are at their zenith.

Although some tender ones

Cannot bear

The overzealous sun.

Soon it will be fall again.

Vanita Shukla Hork, 1981

Just stunning that a 13 year old can write so beautifully.
