I wrote this poem in 1985, 17 years old. It is reminiscent of Contemplation (1984). Many of my poems have a spiritual element. Once again, the soul seeks enlightenment and ultimately, peace.
The sun has risen
On the eastern horizon –
When will my Sun rise
And dispel the darkness
Of my questioning soul?
These are questions
Which have tormented my soul
Affronted my peace
For aeons.
I am the prey of my thoughts
The prisoner of my brilliance
The slave of my own darkness.
Ah, when will daylight
Shine through my life
And enlighten my firmament –
The firmament of hope
Frustration
Happiness
Anger
Love
And human feeling?
The sun has risen
On the eastern horizon
And I am yet to experience
Dawn.

Haunting words of a mind that`s locked and craving for a release from an emotional vacuum, exceptional poetry.
Thank you so much Steve! And that is a very apt description 🙏🙏
